Treats: Doritos / Tortilla Chips

The addiction to bright-orange triangles of corn began in the States, where I couldn’t get Tayto. Fair enough, right? I was powerless. It wasn’t my fault. However, it’s one of the most obnoxiously coloured and fattening products in my presses. Why do I still buy them? Because they’re friggin’ amazing with melted cheese and salsa poured over. Or with sour cream dip. Or even on their own if you’re having a particularly bad Bridget Jones day.

These are the branded pack, because they were on sale, but generally I’ll buy the €1.29 version in Aldi or Lidl, which still tastes great, especially if you’re ladelling the toppings on.  Speaking of toppings, Aldi used to do the most amazing little jars of jalapenos, unbelievably good value and kept for four weeks; anybody know why they’re gone? Or are they just hiding them from me for my own good? If so my health insurer thanks you, but I still miss them….:(
