MasterChef Ireland – Calling All Amateur Chefs!
Do you like to cook? Are you any good at it? Well hallelujah if so, as a possible ticket out of Broke City, Recessionland has come our way. Yep, the long-awaited and much heralded Masterchef Ireland has come to town, and the production company behind it are actively seeking competitors.
The series will be hosted by Dylan Mc Grath, “one of Ireland’s top chefs who won his first Michelin star at the age of just 30” and Nick Munier, “a Dublin restaurateur and Maitre D’, who has been in the industry for 22 years working for some of the world’s best chefs, including Marco Pierre White and The Roux Brothers”. They’ll be putting the contestants through their paces, judging them on a series of tasks and challenges.
Successful applicants will go through to a round of auditions, from which just sixteen finalists will be selected. After that, competitors are eliminated week after week until there is just one left to be crowned Ireland’s first Masterchef. The show is bound to garner a huge audience here in Ireland, especially as it’s the first series. Alongside the huge prize money, it could also serve as an excellent springboard from which to launch a professional cooking or even media career. If you’ve got the balls, the talent and the time you’d be crazy not to give it a go!
One final small detail – I’m sure there are very good reasons for doing so, but if it was at all possible I would have kept the terrifying legalese to a minimum until I at least got the applicants to send in their details. Once through to the next round, then I’d hit ‘em up with the strong stuff. See below for a delightful sample of the comprehensive terms and conditions which can be viewed here;

So you may be defamed, bullied or abused, but hey, you’d also be able to toddle off and nurse your wounds with a Mojito in Barbados, courtesy of your €25k paycheck. If you’re up for the challenge, click here for information on how to submit your application.
