Lidl Special Offers – Until Sunday 29th May

Starting with today’s offers (available until Sunday), there are some random, but good specials including 99c raspberries (very cheap, and good for making your own coulis or ice cream), €2 Gouda or Edamer slices, although these are pretty much the price for them in all supermarkets, €1 for four probiotic yoghurts, €1.79 for gourmet pork sausage, €1 for boxes or, er, pan fried potatoes, sliced potatoes or potato gratin (jury’s out until I taste ‘em) and also €1.29 for a jar of Rollmops. I’m going to confess to not having the faintest clue what Rollmops are, but they look like fish in a jar. And they don’t look the Mae West I have to say. Anybody care to enlighten me?

For the rest of the week there are lots of Polish specials, which I can’t pretend to know anything about, but I wouldn’t mind trying the dumplings (€1.29) and the many meats on offer, including Silesian sausages (€1.99), garlic sausage (€1.69), and traditionally cured bacon (€2.99). Oh, plus, they also have breadcrumbs on offer, for 99c, which is pretty good value if you’re into stocking the freezer. (They’re Anna Bulka tarta in Polish on the pack).

There’s plenty of treats to be had, from €3 for 6 7up / 7up Free cans, €2 for 8 Pack of Tayto or 5 pack of Aeros, €1 for four pack of TicTacs and €2 for Magnum lookalike icecreams, ‘Mini Mix Classic’.  Yum.  No harm picking up a pack of the €1 Couscous for the summer pantry, and if it’s meat you’re after, there are spicy drumsticks for €2.49, €4 for 4 chicken kievs, and €5 for 1.3kg of part-boned frozen chicken breasts.

Super Saturday boasts €1.99 Goodfella’s Pizzas (the deep pan, boo!), €1 cereal bars, €2.99 Barbeque or Hoisin Spare Ribs, and in yet another nod to very hopeful optimism on the part of the retailers, a 20 pack of freeze pops for 79c. Let’s hope the weather improves!

Ooh, and there are lots of great Polish lagers, beers & vodka to try out this week,  plus the ‘Wine of the Week’, a Chilean Merlot 2010 for €3.89. Nope, haven’t tried it yet either.
