Gastronomics.ie – the Recessionista Food Blog
Gastronomics.ie is a fully independent food and shopping blog, updated daily (bear with us, we work fulltime too!), bringing tips and hints on how to cook, eat and drink like a true recessionista. We are mother and daughter, catering for six people and two respectively, and in this blog we share our efforts to lower the grocery bills, while keeping the tummies satisfied! Have a look at the news section for some industry gossip, check out our recipes if you’re looking for inspiration, or have a look at our ‘weekly shop’ and ‘special offers’ menus to see how we’re saving the pennies this week. If you’ve got any tips or hints just drop us a line or leave a comment – we’d love to hear from you!
Who are we? What do we do? Why do we do it? Well, that much is easy. We are Mum and Daughter, aged somewhere under fifty five and twenty five (generalisations are much kinder!). In this blog, we try to share our tricks and tips of trying to live life to the fullest, on much, much less.
Like the rest of Ireland, and indeed the world, we’re trying to stretch those pennies that little bit further, feeding the families, entertaining the troops, and laying on the appropriate spreads, except on a major budget. We’re used to ringing each other, relaying the news that we’ve just found €2 chickens, or letting each other know about a great-value Early Bird menu. Similarly, we all know that in offices up and down the country everyone checks various supermarket sites for the best offers every week. So we’ve put together this blog as a way of doing that all online, in a little one-stop shop.
If you’ve got a story or top tip you’d like us to write about, just drop us a line to holler@gastronomics.ie, and if it fits with the blog, we’d be delighted to blab about it! If you’ve got some gifts you’d like to give away, we’d be delighted to host a competition for you. Similarly, if you’re a restaurant owner or a food producer, let us know about your offerings or send us a product. As Gastronomics.ie is a 100% independent blog we can’t guarantee all reviews will be positive, but we are extremely focused on relaying accurate and worthwhile information, so we will always try to be fair and balanced. We look forward to hearing from you!
